Is SMS Marketing worth it?
YES! But there are some key points to help keep it that way - and tutorials at the bottom to help you do so.
Segment: Don't send to everyone, every time. Create a sending pattern, based on activity.
For instance:
SMS 1: Master Segment (everyone eligible for SMS)
SMS 2: Subscribers who have clicked sms in the last year
SMS 3: Subscribers who have clicked sms in the last 180 days
SMS 4: Subscribers who have clicked sms in the last year
REPEAT PATTERN
Clean Your List: Not only will this keep your cost down, but will also keep you TCPA compliant. We recommend cleaning based on activity level and failed send history.
Message Type: MMS and SMS are priced differently. An MMS message (while it generally has a higher conversion rate) is 3X the price of an MMS. When sending a campaign, keep in mind if that specific audience or event is worth an MMS.
Pop Up: Ensure your pop up is easy and that it does what you say it will.
If you are offering 10% in the first window, be sure to give them the discount in the success message/second window.
If you are using a platform that has the ability to do smart opt-in, utilize it (all paid SMS plans on Klaviyo are eligible). This means that the subscriber never has to leave your website, to confirm their subscription.
Attribution Window: Ensure you know your attribution window. Does it include both clicks and delivered messages? Attribution window is a personal preference, the important part is being aware of what yours is.
